that's not really funny sam,,, i picked karo by decision and that's exactly what it was and exactly how i thought it would go...

i think lytle passed karo's guard as much as karo passed lytle's... and you know lytle's defense was top notch... karo unanimously won every round,, but only by takedowns and landing a few punches here and there,, but nothing dangerous... and i think lytle actually attempted more subs than karo ... but i like karo...
i jst dont want anything taken away from lytle for losing a decision to karo

Yeah I am friends with Chris and was in his corner for this fight. It sucks he lost, cause he trained his ass off. He didn't really know he got dropped on his head until he saw it on the jumbotron in between rounds. He said he saw the replay of that and was like, damn, that hurt I guess. Not to make any excuses because Karo is a top notch fighter, but Chris was very sick about a week before the fight, he shook that off, but he started coughing a lot 2 days before. His coach (Keith Palmer) kept asking him if he was alright and Chris kept blowing it off saying he was fine. Even minutes before the fight when we were in the locker room he was yacking up phlegm out of his throat, but still insisted that he was perfectly fine. I really knew it effected his performance when after the fight, he said he ran out of energy - that NEVER happens with him. His cardio is leaps and bounds what it used to be, probably because he trains to box and easily can go 8 to 10 rounds and feel great afterwards. We ran into Karo after the fight and he was the most respectful I could expect any young fighter to be. Stuff I've always read has made him seem pretty cocky, but he was extremely respectful to Chris and we were all very impressed with him. He kept grabbing Chris' hand as to shake it and was bowing his head to him (a Judo thing, I assume). He told Chris that he was the toughest win that he has ever had. It's sad, Chris trained and trained to defend against Karo's signature move, the Kimura and he didn't attempt it once. Karo's reasoning behind that was, hell no he wasn't trying that cause he knew Chris would get his back. He said he got caught with a knee from Chris pretty good and he was looking at the canvas wondering if he had gotten KO'ed from it, but realized he wasn't and charged at Chris. Did anyone who saw the fight notice the one time (possibly 2) that Mario Yamasaki stood them up, he didn't even put them at opposite sides of the octagon before telling them to fight again? Keith yelled something out to Chris just then, thinking he had a couple seconds to throw out some advice. I just remember seeing Chris' face looking at us, listening to Keith and then he was just blindsided by Karo and back on the ground again. Pretty disappointing from the Lytle camp, but Karo and Chris are both excellent fighters and maybe someday there will be a rematch of that one. --- just my $.02

a lot of guys who lose fights end up sick

maybe karo's judo just wore him out and the win belongs to karo as opposed to bacteria or a virus

did i say he didn't, or does getting attacked by a judo guy not cause a guy to lose energy

Well there's no reason to be a smartass about it. I said he was sick BEFORE the fight, and yeah after as well until about Tuesday. I'm not trying to take anything away from Karo, mind you, but don't pretend that Chris was just so worn out from Karo laying on top of him and burying his face into his neck. When Chris was like really flu sick a week or so before the fight, I saw him train for about 2 hours straight with grappling and BJJ guys and yeah, he felt like total shit afterwards. I've also seen him bang for 10 whole boxing rounds and pound someone's head in the whole time and have plenty of breath to carry on a conversation right out of the ring.

ah, ok.. I feel the pain. I have to drive 60 miles just to get some decent individuals to train with.

are you saying Lytle would have won if he hadn't been sick?

I'm saying he wouldn't have ran out of energy if he wasn't sick. He and Karo had an even shot of beating each other. And they will if they rematch. I'm staying as un-biased as possible seeing how Chris is family.
